Swallow Study & Cade Update
Cade has a swallow study the other day. He protects his airway and does not aspirate and he has bad nasal regurgitation (we already knew all of this) and weak oral motor strength but much improved from last summer. I am working on getting him a private speech therapist to work on that. I don't think he will be having palate surgery anytime soon. In October he will be getting new tubes put in his ear and while he is knocked out they will do a high tech hearing screen to make sure he hears all frequencies.
I don't know how many of you have seen Cade in action but he marches rather than rolls his feet and his right foot turns in. This is because of the tightness in the tendons in his ankle and tibia. The tightness is due to inacativity during his first couple years of life. He will be having surgery next month to lenthen his achilles and posterior tibial tendons. He will be in walking casts for one month and ankle braces for six weeks after that. This is his best chance of walking normally and being able to run and jump. We know he needs it and as much as we don't want to put him through this, it will be good in the long run. We will keep you posted.

Playing With Rachel
Rach was very playful when she came over today. She lost all her hair again from her stronger chemo drugs but she is doing well. She does NOT share her sweetie (that is that stinky little animal she carries around with her) and Cade and Callie always take sweetie away from her.
um Callie, you know that is my sweetie
Cade you can't touch sweetie either.
