Callie entertained all the kids at the school. I am told she sold some newspapers and ran around like she owned the place. My kids love putting themselves inside cabinets and shutting the door so I am not surprised she loved this locker.

Cade Loves Emily
Cade was at school this morning when we visited Amy so Tyler and I took him tonight to meet Emily. He loves elevators and we can't get him out once he is in them
Dr. Akin
"What brings you in here today?"
rearranging the furniture
Cade was sweet to Emily and gave her lots of kisses
He didn't do a very good job of holding her though...

Socialized Medicine
I thought it was perfect that Amy had this stamped across her chest. Working in a birthing center and having had babies, I know how different her experience could have been. Everything felt so out of her control. She did not get to pick her doctor, was assigned to a nurse midwife despite risk factors, never saw a perinatologist, didn't get to pick her hospital, had to be at least 4 centimeters and in active labor to be admitted, no exceptions, contracted irregularly for a week and was incredibly miserable, no plans for an induction of any kind until at least 41 weeks, barely got an epidural. She is happy now and glad it is all over and I guess it all ends in the same result but I can't help but feel turned off by this system. I just know how unhappy Amy was and it made me unhappy and there was definitely a feeling of helplessness. And I really had hoped she would go into labor in New Braunfels and have to deliver at my hospital :). I hope this is not what the world is coming too...
Callie Loves Emily!
Callie really liked little Emily and she was so sweet to her. She got really excited to see her and began waving immediately!
She was giving Emily lots of kisses and patting her head
Here Aunt Amy, if you need to spew, spew in this
Uh oh, I'm not the baby anymore...
Had to include the pictures of her incredibly long toes! She could climb trees with these!

Meeting Cousin Emily
We got the call early this morning that Amy was in active labor and progressing right along. So we put Cade on the bus and headed to San Antonio. Callie was still asleep when we left so she came in her pajamas. She is not a morning person so I didn't dare wake her up!Here she is waiting in the car at the visitor center so we could get a pass to go on base. My parents and I waited for an hour to get the pass and while we were waiting Amy had Emily. I missed the whole labor and delivery! Damn military hospitals!
Callie was patient though and just ate her breakfast.

More Room To Play
My dad decided to pour a driveway and back patio at my house this week. The kids are so excited they have more room to run and drive their cars. However, the butterbraid trailer does have to sit back there but we can deal with that. My mom has all kinds of landscaping plans but here is what it looks like now...back side (I know cade's jeans are a little long, we will be taking them up)

Dental Check Up
Cade went to the dentist today. As a parent, it kinda feels like a test to see how good you are taking care of your child, so I was nervous. Now Cade has several strikes against him. Because of his chromosome deletion, he is predisposed to dental carries. I am sure you can tell from his cute smile that his teeth are also a little different. They are more jagged with deep crevices and he has talons on two teeth and a microdontic tooth (I learned a lot today!). He also doesn't clear food out of his mouth well so it sits on his teeth. I wrestle him every night and have never felt satisfied with the brushing he gets. Well, long story short, he has NO cavities. His white fang is also still firmly in place. He was pretty good through his cleaning, didn't bite the hygenist. I tried to keep him laughing so he would keep his mouth open. The dentist was praising me for his good check up, I must me doing something right!
