but it didn't make it any easier to watch Rachel's hair fall out. It began to be a little too much for Amy to watch so the decision was made to just shave it off. Because Uncle Chino has experience with shaving his head being bald and all, he shaved it for Rachel. We think she is just as beautiful with no hair and she has tons of adorable hats as well.
Because of the weekly chemo, Rachel is on a rollercoaster. We never know what we are going to get with her. The first couple of days after chemo she is usually grumpy, achy, sleepy, and wanting to be held (mostly by her mama). Then we know she gets to feeling better because her adorable little smile returns and she is playful again. Cade loves these days because he has a playmate again!
As part of Cade's Early Childhood Intervention Program, he is eligible for horseback riding therapy once a week. The program is called AWARE for special needs children and it is run by volunteers from Texas State. Today was our first day and he loved it. The therapy is great because it works on his gross and fine motors and speech. The horse stops at stations where he has to complete activities. I think this is going to be really good for him and improve his balance immensely.
Cade loves his wagon and he doesn't try to climb out. He just hangs on and smiles the whole time. Grandma loves to take him on wagon rides in the neighborhood park/quarry.
Papa Banks thought Callie needed to be ready for deer season so he dressed her in her camo. She looked like a boy so Grandma Charlin put this red headband on and this is how it turned out... She loves to take baths just like her brother
I took Cade and Callie to get their first professional pictures done together. I think they turned out great considering how hard it was to get Cade to share the spotlight. Of course, Callie looks like a pretty little princess. You can see the pictures at http://www.heirloomportraitsinc.com/ under online viewing and the password is Cade.
He let her lay on him for a lot longer than I thought he would He even shares his chair (not for too long though, he tries to tip her out of it) Lounging around, with his gut hanging out, watching TV with Dad
Ok I know the sling is kinda dorky but Callie loves it and it is the only way that I can hold both of them. Now Shane can sorta feel what it is like to be pregnant!
Rachel started chemo on Wednesday night. She has been doing really well since. Her counts are not really low yet so it is still OK for her to have visitors and play with Cade and Callie so we went for a visit. Cade reminiscing in the hospital bed. Rachel checking out the pictures Abby and Natalie sent her. Playing in the playroom- Cade loves this place
Reading a book with Rachel's GJ Happy Birthday Marissa!
We took the kids to the park yesterday because we knew Rachel was going into the hospital today. She had a bone marrow aspiration and a port placed to begin chemo but it wasn't started yet because they want to do some more research before beginning. She is doing well and staying in the hospital tonight. Who knows what tomorrow will bring... He loves to play in the tub...
